We’re hiring a highly capable bioinformatician into our Data team. This team is responsible for developing and implementing state-of-the-art computational tools and support for evolving enzymes and strains to enhance the production of chemicals and natural compounds. The scientist will integrate Allozymes’ computational biology support platform and work on developing and implementing pipelines for our enzyme and strain optimization platform as well as collaborate in the development of customer ready solutions. Working in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment, this role has the opportunity to interact with other scientists, automation and process engineers to achieve these goals.
Responsibilities
- Support wet lab team in the analysis and processing of experimental data, provide insights using bioinformatics tools and available resources.
- Develop, implement and deploy cloud-based data analysis/bioinformatics pipelines with a variety of data science, computational biology, cloud computing, sequencing analysis and analytics methods.
- Manage, store and process proprietary datasets and data lakes to find opportunities for process optimization.
- Contribute to the design, implementation and improvement of Allozymes computational biology platform and code base.
Qualifications
- MS or PhD in bioinformatics, genetics, bioengineering, biostatistics, biomedical informatics or a related quantitative field with a focus on bioinformatics and sequencing.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experienced with common bioinformatics online databases, resources and tools.
- Experienced with protein structure modelling, homology modelling, docking, QM/MM simulations, modelling techniques and tools for enzyme engineering.
- Proficient in Python programming.
- Expertise in using data science python libraries.
- Experienced in performing data analysis and visualisation.
- Experienced with code version controlling and platforms such as github/gitlab.
- Familiarity with cloud systems providers.
Bonus
- Strong biology knowledge, preferable in enzyme engineering, synthetic biology and metabolic engineering.
- Experienced with NGS and long-read sequencing.
- Experienced with genome functional annotation pipelines, reconstruction and simulation of genome-scale metabolic models.
